Patches¶
| Patch | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Disable optional tracking | On | Stops optional usage statistics, advertising identifiers and diagnostics. |
| Hide native promotions | On | Hides article banners and membership offers. The member badge no longer opens an offer. |
| Read full articles natively | On | Reads available Freedium articles inside the app, with pictures and a saved-article shelf. |
Advertising and tracking services¶
The ad and tracking controls cover the supported optional activity from: Medium events, Google / Firebase, Meta / Facebook, Datadog, Sprig, Crashlytics; known tracking widgets.
Blocking measurement does not block every function from the same provider. Essential app services can still connect.
Before using¶
The reader uses Freedium, which receives the article URL and your IP address. Availability depends on that service. Open Offline articles to find saved text; save pictures while connected. Clearing the reader cache deletes saved articles and pictures.
